Not So Basic

Thomas Sowell's book, Basic Economics: a common sense guide to the economy, is written in plain language. The book has over 600 pages which include topics and discussions on rent control and housing shortages, minimum wage and low-skilled workers unemployed, and government attempts to control the markets, just to name a few. After reading Sowell's book, I have realized more that not all politicians have a common sense in the economy. Some politicians only care for their short-term political agenda and economists have lost the trust in some politicians. Some school of thoughts in the book are not completely agreeable. What I like most about this book is how Sowell breaks down complex economic terminology into easy-to-understand examples. These examples are all relevant to current events in the market. I believe Basic Economics can be best used as a research and reference guide to the economy.
