Poetry Belongs To All...

"A Year with Rumi", a collection of Rumi's poems, is translated and put together by Coleman Barks. Coleman plays a critical role in making Rumi the most popular poet in the world.

Rumi was born in the early thirteenth century in what is now Afghanistan. He later settled in Konya, in present-day Turkey, with his family. The message in his poems is simply Love. To Rumi, love is a metaphor to describe the human longing for a relationship with the divine. His poems are a collection of memories, reflections and traditions.

"A Year With Rumi" is a Christmas gift from a dear friend of mine. It was truly a timeless gift.
